New York State does not deem Emergency Medical Services as an essential service. Unlike police and fire service, EMS does not receive funding from local, state, or federal government. This leaves EMS services to rely solely on low reimbursement rates and contributions.

As a private not-for-profit corporation, COCVAC does not receive tax dollars, county, state, or federal funding to support operational expenses. We must rely heavily on contributions from our supporters. Although we are reimbursed for a portion of our calls for service by third party insurance carriers, the amount we receive is well below industry standards.
